Abstract: Firstly, I will challenge the self-understanding of many transhumanists that transhumanism belongs to the enlightenment tradition, whereby it will come out that transhumanism can benefit from insights held by posthumanists. Secondly, I will challenge an inappropriate application of the goal to avoid categorical-dualities which posthumanists hold, whereby it will come out that posthumanism can benefit from insights held by transhumanists. As consequence, I am presenting elements of metahumanism which is both beyond humanism as well as in between trans- and posthumanism (meta can mean both beyond as well as in between). Thereby, central challenges of both trans- and posthumanism will become clearer.
